holiday announcement for luke

This holiday announcement design is for Luke, whose mom has been a great customer for several years. Each year she sends a wonderful photograph and a fun phrase to build a design around. This year it was "let heaven and nature sing". And this is what I came up with --- a simple yet beautiful way to express their holiday message and show off the photograph. As far as photo enhancement goes, I just brightened it up overall, then with a duplicate layer, brightened up specific areas a bit more. This really lets the light shine on Luke's sweet face.

2007 holiday photo announcements

Holiday announcements, already?! Yes, I can't believe it either. Where does the time go? Including the entire month of September...

I thought it wouldn't be a problem to get one post done a month, and I must say I am cutting it pretty close this month! But I made it, and that's what counts. Right? :)

2007 holiday announcement orders will be accepted through the first week of December; I'm still working on figuring out exact cut-off dates. Check the site for the most recent info. This year I have 25 exclusive template-based designs for you to choose from, plus the custom design option for a small additional fee. This ensures there is something for everyone! And of course I include my enhancement service to ensure your photo looks like it could have been taken in a studio, even it wasn't!

In the holiday announcement example above, the image was contrast and lighting-corrected. Then I made the image grayscale and colored the red areas red. Finally I cropped the image for the best impact, added the details and Viola! A unique, customized, professional looking holiday announcement. I hope to work my photo magic for you too this year!

Holiday Announcement Goodness

Sometimes it's easy to see why moms and dads just want to gobble up their cute little babies! Take a look at Avery above --- a clear example of gobble-goodness! And he lives in Hawaii --- how lucky is that!?

For Avery's modern holiday announcement, I made the image grayscale and colored the santa hat red as well as the dog collar. But I didn't stop there -- I brightened shadowed areas, cleaned up the background and enhanced the overall image. This is how I can "add" the lighting professional photographers supply... so there is no need for you to hire a professional photographer!

I love this design. This, and the three circles holiday design, are my favorites. Which one is yours?

Have a cool yule holiday announcement

For your photo holiday announcements this year, do you want to express your family's fun side? Can't think of a better way than this! Here, I made the image grayscale but kept the color in the fun glasses. By adding the customer's "have a cool yule" greeting...well...it's just cool. Great idea!

Holiday Photo Announcement - Live, Laugh & Love!

This three-circle holiday announcement design is one of my all-time favorites. For this customer, we altered the original design a bit to incorporate the "live, laugh, love" theme. Aren't these the perfect photos for it?

Holiday Photo Announcements are Ready!

Yes, that's right! This weekend I made my last adjustments and am proud to announce my 2006 holiday photo announcement line! There are some tried-and-true designs from previous years, plus several brand-new designs I created just for you. And of course I offer my custom designs --- designs created based on your particular photograph. The example here is a custom design. Aren't these little boys sweet? I may be partial - they are two of my nephews! I took the original photo when I was visiting family in June to celebrate my grandfather's 90th birthday. The original was quite light, which washed out the colors, so it took a bit of enhancing on my part (you can see the "before" photo at the link I have placed above). But of course that is what I love to do.

Well I must get out and enjoy the day a bit before I continue creating proofs. I have a great big window next to my desk, and the sun is beckoning me! It's a gorgeous Atlanta day - 79 degrees at noon. Definately a day to take a little reading break.

I'm still working on the quads announcement. It's been a challenge to co-ordinate more picture taking, but hopefully something will work out next week. I can't wait!

Luke's photo holiday announcement

I've been thinking about the holidays already ---- I know, I know, it's hard to think of the holidays when it's 95 degrees out at 7:49 pm .... *in the shade* ....but perhaps it is a good thing to think of snow when it is so hot you don't have time to finish an ice cream cone before it is running down the side of your arm.

The 2006 holiday season is right around the corner really; summer flies by. I've been thinking about my new holiday designs. Of course I do my usual custom work for my photo holiday announcement customers, but I also offer a variety of template designs --- designs that I create, and that I can personalize with your information. And of *course* I use my photo restoration and enhancement skills to make your photo look better than you thought it could. Even professional photographers send their work to me to improve!

I pulled one of my favorite announcements of 2005 out --- that is Luke, above. Isn't he so cute? So bright-eyed. I enhanced the photo, adjusted shadowed areas, enhanced his eyes...then decided where to place him in the card. The original photographer did a great job framing him, so I hardly adjusted the original placement at all. Then, to add a bit of "winter" to match the rosy cheeks and wool cap, I added a few translucent snowflakes. Then, the simple details say the important stuff. It's not over the top, it's not frilly. It says what it needs to say, perfectly. As a good design should. That is important to me!
